Hypothermia may be cause of death

BLAIRSVILLE — A coroner says a Western Pennsylvania woman whose body was found by some railroad tracks may have been drinking and fallen into a puddle before likely dying of hypothermia.

Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. says toxicology tests will take weeks to help him finally determine the cause of death for 53-year-old Nichele Gais.

Gais was walking home from her sister’s in Blairsville Monday night, with temperatures were in the teens. Her sister found her body the next morning.
