Gunman kills 4, himself in Georgia shooting

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — Authorities planned today to release more details of a weekend shooting in which a gunman killed four people and wounded two others before taking his own life with a gun in a neighborhood west of Atlanta.

Cedric G. Prather, 33, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting his ex-wife, another adult and two children Saturday in Douglasville, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday. Horrified neighbors called 911 and sought to help the shooting victims before rescuers arrived.

The sheriff’s office identified the other adults killed as Latoya A. Andrews, Prather’s ex-wife; and Joseph Terry Brown. Both were 33. A 7-year-old child and a 9-year-old also died as a result of the attack, authorities said.

Two other children, an 8-year-old and a 15-year-old, were in critical but stable condition at a hospital.

Phone records likely sought in Jenner crash

MALIBU, Calif. — Authorities will likely ask Olympic gold medalist and Kardashian family patriarch Bruce Jenner to provide his cell phone to determine if he was texting when he was behind the wheel of an SUV involved in a multivehicle crash in Malibu that killed a woman.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Philip Brooks said Sunday investigators will likely ask all the drivers to voluntarily provide their phones so they can check call and text data.

Seven others were injured in the accident Saturday.
