ZELIENOPLE — At Monday’s meeting, borough council voted unanimously to authorize GFT Infrastructure to design storm sewers in the western part of the borough.

The move is a continuation of several regional stormwater projects funded by Municipal Infrastructure Program grants.

Councilman Dan Fritch voiced his appreciation to Butler County for working with the borough to allocate funds for stormwater improvements.

“This is wonderful, ongoing cooperation to make all that happen,” said Fritch.

Fritch noted that what was interesting to him is that GFT’s engineering work to take stormwater underground is based on a report from all the way back in 1969.

Additionally, council unanimously approved upgrades to the south east section of the borough’s Four Corners Park, which has been undergoing an improvement project.

Previously, council had voted to issue two payments to refurbish the Veteran’s Memorial at the park at its June 29 meeting.
