Center Township to hold special meeting on whether to hire full-time firefighter, paramedic
Center Township’s board of supervisors will have a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, to discuss the creation of a full-time firefighter and paramedic position to provide additional staffing during the day.
In a Friday social media post from Unionville Volunteer Fire Company, it asked residents to attend and support the creation.
“Our community continues to rely on dedicated volunteers, but weekday availability has become increasingly limited. At the same time, emergency calls continue to increase,” the post said. “Across the three-year data period, UVFC’s annual call volume increased from 598 incidents in 2023 to 685 incidents in 2025 — an increase of 14.5%.”
The board is also expected to discuss how an EMS tax could impact costs related to the position and other emergency service needs.
The board may take action at the meeting, the post said.
