After eight months of construction and more than a year of planning, Butler-based Armco Credit Union officially reopened its Butler branch and headquarters on Monday, July 27.

The $9 million project was designed to renovate the interior of the 27,600 square foot building of the credit union at 101 Hollywood Drive in Pullman Square, adding 40 new offices for member-facing staff and 22 cubicles to the call center.

Over a year ago, Armco was already in the planning stage to renovate the Butler building to address the credit union's growth, along with the need to reconfigure existing space to better support member service and operations. However, in January of 2025, a garbage truck crashed into the side of the building facing Hansen Avenue, accelerating the project timeline.

"As Armco Credit Union continues to grow, it's important that our branches grow with us," said CEO James Hrabosky. "This renovation positions us to better serve our members today while preparing for the future. We sincerely appreciate our members and staff for their patience, support and flexibility throughout this project."

In response to the garbage truck crash, Armco installed a steel barrier below Hanson Avenue and Renaissance Drive to enhance the building’s safety. The barrier, according to the manufacturer, can stop a 60,000-pound vehicle traveling at 45 miles per hour, Armco said.

Armco also made upgrades to the drive-thru area and site infrastructure in order to improve traffic flow.

Other features include energy-efficient LED lighting, water-saving low-flow plumbing fixtures and modern heating and cooling systems.

The project utilized 27 local contractors, suppliers and service providers from around the region, Armco said.

Customers can now utilize the Butler branch to its fullest, after getting their banking services out of the manufactured offices that sat below the Butler branch over the past eight months.

The Butler branch’s hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays.
