GC romps to 44-0 victory

Grove City College set a single-game school record in ringing up 37 first downs in a 44-0 rout over visiting Saint Vincent Saturday.

Wolverines' quarterback Anthony DiDonato completed 19 of 27 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns and became the school's all-time leading passer in career yardage with 3,023.

Brian Mercer ran for a career-high 179 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries and added a 41-yard scoring pass from DiDonato.

Grove City, which outgained Saint Vincent 603-127, also tied a school record by running 90 offensive plays. The Wolverines also rushed for 353 yards, averaged 5.8 yards per carry and converted 11 of 16 third-down opportunities.

Grove City (4-5) will wrap up the season at Geneva College on Saturday.
