Achesinski Sr.

Raymond Robert Achesinski Sr., 79, of Butler passed away Sunday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Butler, March 16, 1931, he was the son of the late Walter and Josephine Butrin Achesinski.

Mr. Achesinski also was known to friends and family as "Rangy Ray" and "Uncle Ray."

He worked at Pullman-Standard for 31 years, retiring when the plant closed. He then worked as a bartender for the Italian Society of Butler on Hickory Street.

He pitched for the Butler Cubs in the City Fast-Pitch Softball League in the 1950s. He also bowled in several bowling leagues throughout his life.

He was a member of the Italian Society of Butler.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pauline S. Snyder Achesinski. They were married June 23, 1956. He also is survived by three sons, Raymond R. Achesinski Jr. of East Butler, David Achesinski of Butler and Rob Achesinski of Butler; three daughters, Cherie Achesinski of Butler, Raylene Caldwell and her husband, David, of Butler and Lori Lasky and her husband, Samuel, of West Jefferson, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
