Nancy Snyder Beattie
Nancy E. George Snyder Beattie, 97, of Butler died Wednesday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Jefferson Township, Jan. 19, 1913, one of 14 children of the late Joseph and Nancy Ellen Christy Smith. She was the last member of her immediate family.
She formerly was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Coylesville/Fenelton and recently had attended the St. Paul Catholic Church in Butler.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother and most enjoyed her family and visiting with children, caregivers and friends.
Nancy was preceded in death by four husbands. She was first married to John R. George, who died in April 1945. She later married Clifford George, Paul Snyder and Kenneth O. Beattie, who died May 30, 2003. She also was preceded in death by three sons, Clifford George, Raymond George and John George; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Surviving are one son, Joseph Snyder of California; three daughters, Blanche Ford and her husband, Fortis, of Las Vegas, Pauline (Mrs. Keith) Cameron of New Hampshire and Nancy Snyder, with whom she had made her home in Butler; 27 grandchildren, including Jamie Snyder, who was one of her primary caregivers; 45 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
<B>BEATTIE </B>— Friends of Nancy E. George Snyder Beattie, who died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler.
