Delton Arthur Sidley, 84, of Pine Township, Grove City, formerly of Eau Claire for 20 years, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at UPMC Shadyside.

Born June 2, 1926, in Grove City, he was the son of Alma Dorothy Bell and Arthur Reed Sidley.

He married Geraldine Marie Jones on Jan. 24, 1948.

He had been employed at Cooper Energy in Grove City, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of Grove City Alliance Church and the adult Sunday school class.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in 749th Tank Battalion and received numerous medals and citations including the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European African-Middle East Campaign Medal with two battle stars and the Victory Medal. He served in France, Germany and Belgium.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Robert A. Sidley and his wife, Claudia J., of Greensburg; two daughters, Connie L. Knoblespease and her husband, Kenneth G., of Grove City, and Dorothy E. Cress and her husband, John L., of Stoneboro; a sister, Carrie Belle Fisher and her husband, Robert, of Fairmont, W.Va.; a brother, George David Sidley of Harrisville; one grandson, John M. Cress; two granddaughters, Geri Lynn Cress and Lisa Ann Speece; and three great-grandchildren, Joey, Robbie and Katie Speece.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

<B>SIDLEY</B> — Friends of Delton Arthur Sidley, who died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, Village of Leesburg, 1778 Perry Highway, Volant. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard LaFountain, pastor of Grove City Alliance Church. Burial will be at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mt. Chestnut.Memorial contributions may be made to Grove City Alliance Church, 845 N. Liberty Road, Grove City, PA 16127.
