City purchases flashing school zone signs for Butler Catholic School
Students, parents and faculty of Butler Catholic School will soon have a safer time getting in and out of the nearby area after the city purchased two flashing school zone signs.
City council voted unanimously at a meeting Thursday evening, July 23, to award the installation of the signs to Bronder Technical Services at a cost of $39,787.
“I want to thank everybody for working through that project, especially you, John (Evans), for taking the time to get this ready,” Mayor Bob Dandoy said.
Evans, the city’s zoning and code management officer, said the city hopes the signs will be installed by the beginning of the school year, but has no specific control over when the work is carried out.
“It all depends on the ability to get the equipment to install it,” he said. “We have no control over the digital displays, the poles or any material in which to put (the signs) together.”
Dandoy said the cost will be covered using the city’s Legacy Fund — a portion of the $90 million plus received through the sale of the Butler Area Sewer Authority.
