Richard D. 'Dick' Kennedy Sr.

Richard D. "Dick" Kennedy Sr., 80, of Butler, formerly of Grove City, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 28, 1930, in Butler, he was the son of the late Floyd B. Kennedy and Grace Wise Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy was a former member of the Grace @ Calvary Church of Butler and a member of the East Main Presbyterian Church in Grove City.

He was a salesman for Good Brothers Tire in Kittanning, retiring in 1998.

Mr. Kennedy was a member of The Butler Notables, the Penn-Ohio Barbershop Groups, and the Southern Gentleman in New Bern, N.C.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Korean War.

Mr. Kennedy enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was a 1948 graduate of Butler High School.

Mr. Kennedy is survived by four sons, Rick and his wife, Donna, Kennedy of Butler, Tom and his wife, Sue, Kennedy of Butler, John and his wife, Shelley, Kennedy of Valencia, and Stephen and his wife, Connie, Kennedy of Slippery Rock; one daughter, Cindy and her husband, Ron Marowitz, of St. Cloud, Fla; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Jeanne and her husband, Dennis, Baloaing, of New Bern, N.C.; one stepson, John Perrine; four step-grandchildren; one brother, Donald and his wife, Evie, Kennedy of Butler; two sisters, Ellen and her husband, Guy, Hively, of Columbia City, Ind., and Martha and her husband, Sam Bowser, of Columbia City, Ind.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen L. Kennedy, who passed away March 24, 1995; and by his second wife, Patricia L. Kennedy, who passed away Sept. 21, 2009.

<B>KENNEDY</B> — Friends of Richard D. "Dick" Kennedy Sr., who died Monday, July 5, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Mr. Dennis Hindman of Rider Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to East Main Presbyterian Church, 120 E. Main St., Grove City, PA 16127.Officers and members of the American Legion Post 778 and the VFW Post 249 will conduct a graveside service.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
