Helen L. Drozda
Helen Louise Drozda, 86, of West Chester and formerly of Butler, passed away on Wednesday.
She was the wife of the late Michael James Drozda, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Chernick and was one of nine children.
Helen left Butler at the start of World War II to marry Mike. At the war's end, they resided in Norwood to start a family. Helen became an educator, relocated to Paoli, and began a 20-year teaching career. She earned two master's degrees.
Retiring in 1980, she and Mike relocated to Vero Beach, Fla. After her husband's death in 1996, Helen relocated to West Chester.
Helen raised her family with strength, wisdom, common sense, with a positive outlook on life. We thank our mom for her support and love. She will be missed, but will remain forever in our hearts.
Helen is survived by her son, Michael James Jr. of West Chester and his wife, Janie; three grandchildren, Michael James III, Eric, Carolyn and her daughter Karen Deen Drozda of Mission Viejo, Calif.
Helen will be laid to rest with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
