Elmer Lewis Brewer, 81 of Cypresshead Drive, Parkland, Fla., passed away Friday at the University Hospital, Tamarac, Fla.

He was a retired lieutenant detective with the Detroit Police Department and a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.

He was born Oct. 28, 1928, and was a son of the late Josiah Brewer and Garnett Harris Brewer.

His wife, Betty, preceded him in death in 1997.

He is survived by three daughters, Nancy Heikkinen, Kathleen LaCombe and Linda Porter; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorain Losko.

His parents, his wife, Betty and a grandson, Sean Heikkinen are deceased.
