Verna M. Winkler, 82, of Adams Township, Mars, died Sunday morning at UPMC Passavant hospital in McCandless Township.

Born in Crete, N.D., March 15, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Sponsel LaFever.

Mrs. Winkler was a homemaker.

Surviving are a daughter, Dianne Wolf of Butler; a son, James Winkler of Mars; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Winkler, who died Sept. 15, 1984, and by a daughter, Sandra Winkler. As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by 11 siblings.
