GMACBowl results in 63-7 romp

MOBILE, Ala. — Paul Smith and Tulsa kept toppling records, and the end result was the most lopsided bowl game in NCAA history.

With Smith logging his NCAA-record 14th consecutive 300-yard passing game and the defense setting up four first-half touchdowns with fumble recoveries, the Golden Hurricane routed Bowling Green 63-7 in the GMAC Bowl on Sunday night.

The 56-point margin topped Alabama's 61-6 win over Syracuse in the 1953 Orange Bowl.

Not a bad way to cap coach Todd Graham's first season. Tulsa (10-4) reached 10 wins for the first time since 1991 and more than doubled its previous high of 31 points in a bowl game.

The defense pitched a shutout. Bowling Green's only points came on a kickoff return.

"Other than that kick return, I don't know if it could have been any better," Graham said.

Smith passed for 312 yards and five touchdowns.
