A Lyndora motorcyclist is charged with DUI in a crash at a construction zone that fractured his leg, Butler police said.

William Wade Potter, 55, was charged July 9 with two misdemeanor DUI counts following a June 29 crash on North Main Street.

Police said a witness reported seeing Potter coming down the North Main Street hill and pass around three vehicles on the shoulder before the crash. Police said when Potter reached the bottom of the hill, he crashed into the back of a sedan stopped at the construction zone.

The sedan driver told police he could see Potter coming in his rear-view mirror and tried to get out of the way but was unsuccessful. The impact caused the sedan to turn completely around and face the opposite direction.

Potter was taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital for his leg fracture and had a blood alcohol content of 0.123%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.

Potter’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Aug. 3 before District Judge William Fullerton.
