Snow

Althea Claire Snow, 85, of Butler passed away at 4:44 p.m. Saturday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

Born Dec. 16, 1925, in Dunbar, Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Armand Felicien Quairiere and Olive Ellis Quairiere.

Mrs. Snow graduated from Dunbar High School in 1944 and from the School of Nursing, Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia in 1948. She did continuing education in Pittsburgh and Buffalo to become a nurse practitioner.

She retired as a registered nurse in 1986 from the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center after 38 years of dedicated service.

Althea enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She was an avid reader of medical and health literature. She enjoyed traveling, including visiting relatives in Belgium and South Africa. She also was interested in aviation and was a student pilot. She was a former member of the VA Bowling League and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Mrs. Snow is survived by two sons, William R. Snow of Santiago, Chile, and James R. and his wife Betty Snow of Hampton Cove, Ala.; two granddaughters, Meghan Snow of South Bend, Ind., and Deanna Snow of Framingham, Mass.; one grandson, Brent Snow of Framingham, Mass.; one sister, Alice Davison of Seminole, Fla.; two brothers, Herman Quairiere of Coraopolis and Robert Quairiere of Dunbar; several nieces and nephews; and close family friends, Betty and Kathy Cunningham of Butler.

Mrs. Snow was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Snow, who she married Sept. 23, 1949, and who passed away April 25, 1969; one sister, Elaine Pecil; two brothers, Alex Quairiere and Raymond Quairiere; one nephew, John Quairiere; one cousin, Gilberte Henin.

North St., Butler, Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday the funeral home with the Rev. George Palick of St. Fidelis Catholic Church officiating.
