Ian and Theresa Smith, of Butler, will celebrate 65 years of marriage on July 17 with a private celebration.

Smith married the former Theresa DeKleva on July 17, 1961, at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Herman.

They have two children, the late Ian B. Smith and Cheryl Smith-Johnson, of Spotsylvania, Va.

The Smiths also have one grandchild.

Ian Smith was a high school physics, chemistry and geology teacher.

Theresa Smith was a registered nurse.

The Smiths are members of the Roman Catholic Church.
