PAT may pull buses from downtown
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh's Port Authority is considering a plan that would rid downtown of buses, diverting passengers to a shuttle or a small subway that would bring them to the city center.
In May, Market Square, will likely no longer have bus stops. The authority's spokeswoman, Judi McNeil, said the next step may be to rid all downtown of buses.
The authority believes a system of dropping suburban passengers off outside the downtown and getting them onto shuttles or the T-line could be more efficient.
