Clearview Mall official says business is good
CENTER TWP — In the down economy, Clearview Mall on Route 8 is boasting about its retail success.
John Brautigam, mall manager, said Thursday the mall's parent company, J.J. Gumberg, has been working with stores on leases and expansions.
Of the 12 stores that have leases that expire this year, Gumberg has already renewed eight.
American Eagle Outfitters, a Pittsburgh-based company, has added 2,400 square feet to its space in a major renovation, nearly doubling its space.
The Deb Shop is now located in the former Fashion Bug store between Boscov's and Dick's Sporting Goods. The 10,000-square-foot space is more than 3,000 square feet larger than its original spot near the Bon Ton.
Gumberg is working with several new businesses to locate at the mall, but contracts have not been finalized as of this date.
"We wanted our customers to know that the mall is in good shape, that stores are not vacating and going away, but moving in and getting larger," Brautigam said.
He said the mall has 80 stores that are open.
It has at least eight vacant spaces.
