TOWN AND COUNTY
Freeport School District has been recognized by Standard and Poor's as one of 61 school districts in the state that narrowed the academic achievement gap between economically disadvantaged students and other students.
Freeport is one of four districts in the Butler County area identified by the performance evaluation service. Seneca Valley, South Butler and Grove City also were recognized.
But because the Freeport district is in both Butler and Armstrong counties, Standard & Poor's includes Freeport in its Armstrong list and not the Butler County list cited in an Aug. 31 Butler Eagle story.
Items for Town & County should be submitted on weekdays no later than 4 p.m. the day before requested publication.
