Police: Former housekeeper stole more than $6K from client

A former Pittsburgh housekeeper is accused of stealing more than $6,000 from his client in Cranberry Township.

Willians Leite Pestana, 35, was charged Thursday, July 9, by Cranberry Township police with one felony count each of theft and conspiracy, and misdemeanor possession of an instrument of a crime following a May 22 incident.

Police said a woman reported to Northwest Bank that $6,341.48 had been stolen from her checking account. The bank linked the missing funds to Pestana, who the woman said had cleaned her house numerous times, police said.

Police said the stolen funds were transferred from the woman’s bank account using her bank account number and routing information to Amazon, Peoples Gas, Duquesne Light and Lendbuzz Auto Loans in Pestana’s name.

The woman paid Pestana in checks, which is how he had access to her banking information, police said.

Pestana’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
