William Clarence Urey

William Clarence Urey, 85, of Grove City passed away at 5:15 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Living Center, Grove City, after an extended illness. He was formerly of Wolf Creek Township, Mercer County.

William was born in Pine Township, Mercer County, on Jan. 10, 1927, to Clarence S. Urey and Helen R. Morrison Urey

On April 2, 1955 he married Doris Elaine Kuhn, who died Dec. 15, 1979.

William retired from the Barber Tire Co., Harrisville, where he was a tire service repairman. Before Barber Tire, he worked for Nemo Bottling of Grove City as a delivery driver.

He was affiliated with the Tower Presbyterian Church of Grove City.

William served on the Mercer County Antique Power Tractors Association Board.

As a veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and was former past commander of the Harrisville American Legion Post 852. He was also a member of the VFW Post 519 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 1895, both of Grove City.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was the last living member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four sisters, Lois Ann Midbury, Jane Knauff, Mary Lou Kennedy and Hazel Hirst; three brothers, Jack Urey, Ross Urey and Fred Urey; and one nephew, Henry Knauff.

<B>UREY</B> — Funeral services for William Clarence Urey, who died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, will be at <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Janice Good, associate pastor of the Tower Presbyterian Church, officiating. Visitation hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
