Gilbert Joseph Foster, 84, of Valencia, formerly of Ross Township, passed away Saturday at his home.

He was born Feb. 22, 1927, in West View, Pa., to Harold W. and Ethel B. Foster, who are deceased.

Gilbert graduated from West View High School, Class of 1945, and immediately entered the U.S. Navy. He served in the Pacific theater of World War II on the USS Laertes (AR-20).

Upon his honorable discharge, he enrolled in Grove City College, graduating in 1951. During his college years, he met and married Dolores Marie Boone, who passed away in 1980.

Gilbert's entire professional career was spent at Fosters Furniture working with his father and two brothers in their family business.

He was an active member of the Grand Lodge of F.&A.M. of Pa., the Mars Rotary Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown.

Gilbert is survived by his second wife, Virginia D. Foster of St. Barnabas; his four children, Ellen F. (Kevin) Judy of Bryn Mawn, Pa., Janice A. (Ken) King of Butler, Neal G. Foster of Valencia, and Kenneth H. (Marilyn) Foster of Allison Park; seven grandchildren; and a brother, W. Herman Foster of Ross Township.

<B>FOSTER</B> — The family of Gilbert Joseph Foster, 84, of Valencia, formerly of Ross Township, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at <B>SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, </B>5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown. Please meet at the church.
