Margaret 'Peggy' G. Cope
Margaret “Peggy” G. Cope, 86, of Butler went to her heavenly home at 12:40 a.m. Thursday at the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born Oct. 5, 1925, in Pittsburgh, to the late James Geltz and Helen Wallace Geltz.
Mrs. Cope earned a bachelor of arts degree from Penn State and was a homemaker.
She was a charter member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of America where she was a kindergarten Sunday school teacher. In her previous church affiliation, she was a student and then became a teacher of the Bethel Bible program. Mrs. Cope was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
On June 10, 1950, she and Dr. Donald I. Cope were married by her maternal grandfather in Perrysville, Allegheny County, at the Hiland Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Cope is survived by her husband, Dr. Donald I. Cope; two daughters, Nancy Lee Cope of Butler and Anne Wallace Cope of Spring Hill, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Karen F. Cope of Economy Borough; one grandson, Donald W. Cope; two granddaughters, Sara and Susan Cope; one sister, Nancy Watson of Petersburg, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, James S. Cope.
