E. Marvin Schmidt

E. Marvin Schmidt, 76, of Richland Township, Gibsonia, formerly of Rostraver Township, died Tuesday morning at Rebecca Residence in West Deer.

Born in Pittsburgh, Oct. 23, 1935, he was the son of the late Louis T. and Blanche Rushnock Schmidt.

Marvin was a professor of math and computer science at California University of Pennsylvania. He earned his undergraduate degree from Penn State and his master's degree from West Virginia University.

He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Wexford and had served in the U.S. Army during peacetime.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Steele Schmidt, who he married on Dec. 29, 1962; two daughters, Karen Lemasters and her husband, Jon, of Jefferson, Md., and Debbie Faber and her husband, John, of Richland Township; and his grandchildren, Bethany and Allison Lemasters and John E., Sarah and Emily Faber.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Schmidt, and his sister, Marlene Schmidt.

<B>SCHMIDT</B> — Friends of E. Marvin Schmidt, who died Tuesday, May 1, 2012, will be received at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Salem United Methodist Church, 350 Manor Road, Wexford, with the Rev. Beth Nelson, pastor, officiating.
