Janet Beth Kepple Mitchell
Janet Beth Kepple Mitchell of Lincoln, Neb., went to be with her Lord on Tuesday after a valiant 15-year battle with cancer.
She was born April 13, 1939, in Greensburg, to the late John B. and Edna S. Kepple.
In 1961, she graduated from Grove City College with honors in accounting. In 1991, she graduated from Southeast Community College, Lincoln, with honors in microcomputer classes.
Jan loved to travel. She visited all 50 states, always looking for another waterfall. She toured six continents, mostly after being diagnosed with cancer.
Jan was a Stephen's minister and an ordained deacon in the Eastridge Presbyterian Church in Lincoln. She was active in her church. For more than 10 years she sent out daily e-mail devotions to a long list of followers for the church.
Jan liked to play bridge and do water aerobics. She was an avid knitter. During the past 10 years, she knitted at least 16 prayer shawls, given to people who were suffering, and dozens of hats for Christmas gifts and for cancer sufferers.
Janet is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert D. Mitchell, of Lincoln; her four children, Robert D. Mitchell and his wife, Barbara, of Fort Wayne, Ind., David J. Mitchell and his wife, Maria, of Houston, Texas, Eric W. Mitchell of Lincoln and Beth A. Crabtree and her husband, Douglas, of Tecumseh, Neb.; her 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Also surviving are her brother, John B. Kepple of Butler, and her sister, Linda L. Knowles of Darnestown, Md.

A celebration of life ceremony will be at the Eastridge Presbyterian Church, Lincoln, at 3 p.m. Sunday.A memorial fund is being established at the Eastridge Presbyterian Church, Lincoln.
