Josephine Ellison
Josephine Ellison, 92, of Hallandale Beach, Fla., formerly of Butler, died at 5:34 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at the Aventura Hospital in Florida.
Jo was born April 3, 1920, in Bellefontaine, Ohio. She was the daughter of Guy Wilcox and Laura Engel.
Jo was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II in Detroit, Mich., and also worked at Himelhose.
Jo moved from Detroit to Butler in 1960 and married J. Edwin Ellison. Jo was an active member of the North Street Christian Church and later the Oak Hills Christian Church.
Jo loved volunteering and did so with Meals on Wheels and with transporting cancer patients for treatments. She also enjoyed sewing and interior decorating.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Edwin Ellison; son, Thomas Ellison; and two sisters.
Surviving are her two sons, Gary Ellison of Butler and Jeff Ellison of Maine; a daughter, Lori Watson of Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
ELLISON — Services are private. Contributions in memory of Josephine Ellison, who died Thursday, July 5, 2012, may be made to the Oak Hills Christian Church, 113 Township Line Road, Butler, PA 16002.
