Winifred Stockton Cranmer Barnes, 97, of Butler, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born June 22, 1915, in New York City, and raised in Somerville, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Stockton and Joan (Brown) Cranmer.

Winifred was a proud graduate of Bucknell University. In addition, she attended Crozer Theological Seminary and the University of Pittsburgh.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, the Rev. Mary Kitchen and her husband, Allen, of Butler and Carol Joan Schaef of West View, Pa.; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Schaef of South Carolina; and her three grandchildren, Joanna and Michael Sickels and Trevor Sheehan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Schaef, who taught chemistry at Case Western Reserve University, Waynesburg University and the University of Pittsburgh, and Dr. Wallace E. Barnes, who taught math at the College of William and Mary and Robert Morris University; her son, Carl Schaef; and her brother, William Cranmer.

BARNES — Winifred Stockton Cranmer Barnes passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Winifred's family will welcome friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.Funeral services will be celebrated at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Carol Henley of the Calvary Episcopal Church officiating.
