Man charged with touching 11-year-old inappropriately

A 43-year-old man has been accused of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old girl.

Penn Township police filed charges Monday against Michael B. Remaley of Butler Township, including misdemeanors of indecent assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

According to charging documents, an 11-year-old girl told police Remaley had taken her hand and placed it upon himself inappropriately on May 1.

“She stated she knows this happened on May 1, 2021, because she had taken a picture of the sunset on the same day,” said the investigating officer. “The forensic interviewer did verify a picture on the (child's) cellphone of a sunset, dated May 1, 2021.”

Police said the investigation began when the girl's mother called police in June, reporting Remaley had viewed the child undressed after being told to stay away from her bedroom.

According to the documents, the girl told officers she had locked the door to her room while in her bed, and she repeatedly told Remaley to stay out of her room.

“(She) stated Remaley 'picked' the lock on the door and entered the room,” police said.

Police said Remaley then removed the cover on the bed twice, exposing the girl.

According to police, the girl also told the officer that Remaley had made lewd remarks to her in the past involving sex and her body.

A preliminary hearing has yet to be scheduled, but charges were filed before District Judge Sue Haggerty.
