This list is one in a series showing a snapshot of what life looks like in Butler County ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.

The nine libraries that compose the Butler County Federated Library System have a variety of books for all ages and all interests. Visiting any of the branches provides access to a vast world of titles by authors and editors.

Butler Area Public Library

The Butler Area Public Library is the main branch of the system. It houses the largest collection of physical items. The library was established in 1894. Two years ago, it celebrated its 130th anniversary.
