Gloria Louise Crawford

Gloria Louise Crawford, 85, of Fayetteville, Ga., formerly of Butler, passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2012.

She was born June 10, 1927, in Butler.

Gloria was a faithful servant of Christ and a life-long member of the Christian church. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First Christian Church, Tyrone, Ga.

She was employed as a bookkeeper at Nationwide Insurance in Butler for 45 years. She always was involved with community activities. She served as a Grey Lady at Butler Memorial Hospital for many years. She also was a member of and served as president of the Butler Women’s Better Business Club.

Even though she never married or had children, she enjoyed participating in the lives of her nieces and nephews. After her retirement, she moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., and then to Fayetteville, Ga., in 2002. In 2009, Gloria moved to the Christian City Convalescent and Retirement Center.

Gloria was the eighth of nine children of Jesse and John Crawford. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings, except one sister, Vivian M. Pontius of Peachtree City, Ga. She has several nieces, nephews and their families scattered throughout the country.

CRAWFORD — Gloria Louise Crawford passed away Friday, Oct. 26, 2012. A memorial service will be on Saturday in Georgia.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christian City, 7300 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291, or to the First Christian Church of Tyrone, 294 Jenkins Road, Tyrone, GA 30290.
