Dorothy Haywood
Dorothy G. Haywood, 92, formerly of Lincoln and Morton avenues, of Butler passed away at 8:31 a.m. Tuesday at her home.
She was born June 10, 1920, in Butler to the late George R. Garwig and Laura Fentzel Garwig.
Dorothy retired in 1985 as a secretary for the Butler School District.
She volunteered at the Calvary Presbyterian Church, now Grace @ Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, for 20 years, where she was instrumental in beginning the “Sit ‘n Fit” exercise program. She was a member of the Business & Professional Women’s Club. Dorothy enjoyed singing in the church choir, music, reading and walking.
Dorothy is survived by her loving friends and caretakers, Douglas and Linda G. Nemeth of Butler; her church family and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother George Garwig.
HAYWOOD — Friends of Dorothy G. Haywood, who died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Grace @ Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., Butler. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 11 at the church with the Rev. Donald Short, officiating.
