Josephine Franchuk
Josephine Franchuk, 95, formerly of Meridian died Wednesday afternoon at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Butler on March 3, 1917, a daughter of Andrew and Mary Blasko Prebula.
Josephine had been a homemaker, but had worked at the Butler Armco Steel plant for two years during World War II as a part of the war effort.
A member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, she enjoyed cooking and gardening and loved to laugh and lighten up the room.
She was the widow of Peter Franchuk. They had married Aug. 27, 1960, and he died Jan. 20, 2003.
Her survivors are a number of nieces and nephews.
FRANCHUK — There will be no visitation for Josephine Franchuk, who died Wednesday Dec. 26, 2012. A private service will be held for her family. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 100 W. Station Square Drive, Suite 500, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
Arrangements are entrusted to the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
