Holz

Maxine “Max” D. Holz, 92, formerly of Mars and Gibsonia, died Saturday evening at the Shook Nursing Home in Chambersburg, Pa.

She was born in Mars on June 29, 1920, and was the daughter of the late John F. and Laura Werner Davidson.

She graduated from Mars High School in 1938 and completed the secretarial course at the Robert Morris School of Business in Pittsburgh. She was an executive secretary until 1959 when she married Roland (Ron) Bauer and raised his three children, Dennis, Karon and Patricia.

She enjoyed playing cards, golf and bowling into her late 80s. She traveled widely and enjoyed cruising.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Bauer Beard of Greencastle, Pa.; her daughter-in-law, Sjaane Gordon; her granddaughters, Victoria Beard and Carla Russell; her grandson, Dennis Gordon; and many stepchildren, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by spouses, Ron Bauer, John Nath and Russell Holz; four sisters; two brothers; and children, Dennis and Karon.

HOLZ — A memorial service for Maxine “Max” D. Holz, who died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, will be held later.

Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, 717-264-6416.

Private burial will be at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Fla.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any charity of choice.
