Evans leads Rock over OU-Eastern
SLIPPERY ROCK — Michael Evans Jr. scored a team-high 20 points Wednesday night to lead the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team to a 110-91 victory over Ohio University-Eastern at Morrow Field House.
The Rock (9-0) improved its regular-season winning streak to 17 games, four shy of the school record. The 9-0 start matches the 1963-64 team for best start to a season in the program's history.
SRU never trailed Wednesday and enjoyed a 100-63 lead with six minutes remaining before OU-Eastern closed the gap.
Evans, a senior guard, dished out five assists and was one of six Rock players to score in double figures. Junior guard Jabril Bailey contributed 15 points and five rebounds.
Senior guard Andre Tarver scored 14 points, senior guard Bryen Spriggs had 13 points to go with nine rebounds. Junior forward Maron Brown had 11 points and six rebounds, with senior forward and Butler graduate Jade Burka grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.
Carter Baldwin and Jason Shaw scored 28 points each for OU-Eastern.
