KC to start teaching remotely on Fridays
Karns City Area School District students in all grades will attend live classes four days a week and receive remote instruction on Fridays beginning in March.
The school board voted Monday to make Fridays remote learning days starting March 5. The change will enable the school district to provide meals for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to students on Fridays.
The school district is developing plans to establish targeted delivery points throughout the district to help families obtain the meals, which are free to all school-age children of the school district regardless of income.
The district will transition to a 4-and-1 model, in which all students will learn remotely on Fridays and attend school in-person four days per week. The first remote day is March 5. During the Friday remote learning days, students will be expected to log into their teachers' Google Classrooms during school hours to access school content.
Students enrolled in the Virtual Instruction Program are unaffected by this change; however, if they wish to transition back to school and participate in the 4-and-1 model, parents should contact their respective schools.
