John F. 'Jack' McGowan, CEO of Roomful Express
John F. "Jack" McGowan, 64, of Harmony died Friday at Montefiore Hospital.
Born Jan. 8, 1943, in New Brighton, he was the son of the late Franklin C. and Vivian E. Fair McGowan.
Mr. McGowan was CEOof Roomful Express Furniture. He joined RH Kuhn Co. in 1970, and became vice president of the company in 1972. From 1995 to 2000, he served as CEO of Freight Liquidators.
Under his leadership, the company experienced years of growth, expanding throughout Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and eastern Ohio. In 2000, he oversaw the change of the company's operating name to Roomful Express Furniture. His innovative management of the business doubled the company's sales by 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Williams-McGowan; a daughter, Jill Camardese of Crescent; two sons, John F. McGowan Jr. of Center Township and Brad McGowan of Kennedy Township; a sister, Dawna Greco of New Brighton, and seven grandchildren.
