The conference playoff hopes for the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team got a little dimmer Wednesday.

The Rock shot just 38 percent from the floor in a 79-65 PSAC West loss at California (Pa.) University.

Maron Brown and Jabril Bailey each scored 14 points for SRU (13-7, 2-5), which has lost five of its last seven games.

Andrew Young scored 23 points for Cal (13-9, 1-6), which shot 49 percent from the field.

Slippery Rock suffered a 97-47 loss at No. 22 California (Pa.) University.The numbers were bleak for The Rock (4-16, 1-6).SRU was outrebounded 50-24. Cal had 22 offensive boards and The Rock committed 27 turnovers while shooting 32 percent from the field.Chere' Marshall led SRU with 10 points while Brooque Williams scored 23 points for Cal.<B>Butler County Community College 54, CCAC South 51</B> — Karns City High graduate Ashley Campbell scored 31 points to lead the Pioneers (4-10).Seneca Valley graduate Sarah Beals added 16.
