Mark Lansinger

Mark P. Lansinger, 78, of Butler died early Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born on Jan. 4, 1935, in Ridgeway, a son of Francis and Martha Shiffler Lansinger.

Mark was a graduate of St. Fidelis High School, formerly in Herman, and attended the seminary there for two years. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh where he had earned a bachelor’s and a master’s in business.

He was a certified public accountant and was retired as the state and local tax manager of Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh following 16 years. Before that, he had worked for PNB Bank for 21 years.

He was a very active member of the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, where he served at a eucharistic minister and served the residents of the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the YWCA, was a member of the parish finance committee and led the parish bereavement services. He also was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jean Purnell Lansinger, who he married Dec. 1, 1962; four children, Michael of Annapolis, Md., Eric Lansinger and his wife, Yuri, of Pittsburgh, Karla Lansinger of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Martha Lansinger of Miami, Fla.; and a grandson, Eric Lansinger Jr.

Lansinger — Friends of Mark P. Lansinger, who died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler. The pastor, the Rev. James Murphy, will officiate. Interment will be at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Butler.A Parish Prayer Service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
