Jason Steen pitched three scoreless innings and freshman third baseman Jamison Walck had three hits Wednesday as Slippery Rock University salvaged the second game of a baseball doubleheader against Seton Hill at Critchfield Park.

The Rock (15-17) rapped out 12 hits in beating Seton Hill 11-6 in the nightcap after dropping the opener 9-3.

Slippery Rock High graduate Billy Messer had a double, a single and three RBI, Carter Haponski and Matt Howard had two hits each and Matt Kosik homered in the victory.

Butler graduate Brian Warheit (3-4) started the second game for Seton Hill, but lasted only into the second inning. Mars graduate D.J. Cannon pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Griffins (22-11).

Howard had a double and a single while Messer contributed a double to The Rock's cause in the first game.

SRU returns to PSAC West play Friday, traveling to Lock Haven before hosting the Bald Eagles Saturday.

The Rock (13-3) defeated Clarion 9-0 for its fifth consecutive victory.Dunja Drmac and Janelle Krantz won singles matches 6-0, 6-0 for SRU, which plays at Shippensburg today.
