Doris E. Clarke
Doris E. Clarke, 95, formerly of 604 Prindle St., Sharon, and the Bentley House, Hermitage, passed away at 1:02 p.m. Monday in the ICU of Sharon Regional Health System.
Mrs. Clarke was born Dec. 1, 1917, in Niles, Ohio, a daughter of the late Clyde and Alice Martin Stigleman.
She was a lifelong area resident and a 1936 graduate of Brookfield High School. Doris was employed as a pharmacist assistant for 30 years at the former Smith Drug Co. in downtown Sharon and retired in 1967 when the store closed. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sharon, where she served as a deacon. Doris was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching sports on television.
Her husband, Elden O. Clarke, who she married July 1, 1939, passed away Nov. 22, 2004.
Surviving are a daughter, Elaine A. Kendall and her husband, George J., of Butler; two grandchildren, Jason C. Russell and his wife, Molly McTague, and Chad M. Russell and his wife, Robyn; and two great-grandchildren, Rylan and Nolan Russell. She also leaves a brother-in-law, Daniel Jones of Hubbard, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews, including Raymond and Mary Ann (Cookie) Messina of Pymatuning Township, who would visit Doris on a daily basis for the past two years.
In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by three sisters, Phoebe Curtis, Gert Messina and Betty Jones; and two brothers, Albert and Raymond Stigleman.
CLARKE — Calling hours for Doris E. Clarke, who passed away Monday, June 17, 2013, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home, 1090 E. State St., Sharon.Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, Sharon, with the Rev. Dr. Glenn M. Hink, senior pastor, officiating.
