Helen 'Val Jean' (Gardner) Mazur

Helen “Val Jean” (Gardner) Mazur, 81, of Gibsonia passed away Wednesday while under the care of the Concordia of Franklin Park in Sewickley.

Born June 7, 1932, in Apollo, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Helen (Johnston) Gardner.

Val Jean enjoyed watching football and television shows, but above all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her three children, Scott (Nancy) Brown of Penn Township, Michael (Cindy) Mazur of Valencia and Gloria (Bill) Nickholds of Sewickley; her four grandchildren, Lorie Waldrop, Shawn (Marci) Nickholds, Samantha Brown and Dustin (Jacindra) Brown; her five great-grandchildren, Sherry, Jessy, Kylee, Cody and Gauge, and her sister, Velma “Aunt Yea” (Herbert) Burnett of Marathon, Fla.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Brown and Walter P. Mazur, who passed away on June 29, 2007.

MAZUR — The family of Helen “Val Jean” (Gardner) Mazur, who passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the King Funeral Home, 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park.A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald J. Baillie of the St. Thomas Church in the Fields, Gibsonia, officiating. She will be laid to rest at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery (North Side Catholic) in Pittsburgh.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Val Jean's family at www.kingfuneralhome.com.
