Butler approves wiring work for city building
Butler City Council members voted Thursday, June 25, to approve a proposal for updated cabling infrastructure in the Butler City Building on West North Street.
The proposal, from EverOn LLC, is in the amount of $45,436.13 for the entire building. Mayor Bob Dandoy said the wiring work is part of upgrades to the building.
“It’s all part of the project that is trying to bring this building up to speed,” Dandoy said.
Dandoy said the wiring in the building is out of date and unorganized. Cables will be rerun through the walls and into outlets.
The time frame of the work is uncertain. Dandoy said that, with the building being so out of date, they’re unsure how much work it will take but hope to get started on it soon.
“The cable will be restrung, refished through the walls,” Dandoy said.
After wiring, the next step for the upgrade project is new carpeting and furniture. Once the wiring is completed in a room, they’ll start replacing the furniture.
“So that becomes, you know, taking this out, putting the carpet in, getting the furniture, you know, all that kind of stuff,” Dandoy said.
The cost of the project will be covered by the city’s Legacy Fund. The contract was acquired through COSTARS, the state’s cooperative purchasing program.
The next Butler City Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on July 23.
Councilman William Painter was absent from the meeting.
