McGloin could get QB nod at PSU

STATE COLLEGE — Penn State appears to be leaning toward naming Matt McGloin the starter Saturday night against Michigan with Rob Bolden recovering from a possible head injury.

Coach Joe Paterno said Thursday night in a taped segment on the team's weekly radio show that he would go with McGloin as of Thursday, and that he would prefer to use just one quarterback.

Paterno's son and quarterback coach, Jay Paterno, had said earlier on the show that Bolden has been cleared to play and practiced some this week, but that naming a starter would be a game-time decision. The freshman Bolden was knocked out during the second quarter of last week's 33-21 win at Minnesota.

McGloin was the first backup off the bench and threw two touchdown passes, though Kevin Newsome also played a series.
