Walter M. Wolabaugh
Walter M. Wolabaugh, 72, of Prospect passed away Friday evening at his home with his loving family by his side after a courageous one-year battle with cancer.
Born on July 21, 1941, in Butler, he was the son of the late Walter G. Wolabaugh and Anna Mae Jones Zubik.
Walter retired in 2002, after 40 years of working at AK Steel, the former Butler Armco, where he was a member of the UAW Union.
He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. His family will remember him by all the projects around the house and the current project of building a cradle for his granddaughter, Serenity. His hobbies included camping, model trains and belonging to the Train Collectors Association.
He attended the Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Vardy Wolabaugh, who he married on Dec. 16, 1983; his children, Walter, Kurt, Todd, and John Wolabaugh, all of Chambersburg, Pa., Lisa (Fred) Seibel of Chicora, Jennifer (Eric) Lutz of Beaver Falls, Thomas (Hope) Wolabaugh of Chincoteague, Va., and Judith (Josh) Pilat of Tarentum; his grandchildren, Ashley, Georgie, Serenity, Leann, Clinton and Devlen; many nieces and nephews, and his mother-in-law, Mary Vardy of Prospect.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather, Lou Zubik.
WOLABAUGH — The friends of Walter M. Wolabaugh, who passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Edward L. Raisley Funeral Home, 387 Main St., Prospect. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church, Whitestown, with the Rev. Jeff Curtis, their friend and pastor from the Mt.
