Sylvan L. 'Red' Easler
Sylvan L. “Red” Easler Sr., 79, of Hampton Township passed away Thursday.
Mr. Easler was the beloved husband of Sylvia M. Cvetic Easler; the father of Sylvon (Jay Jackson) of Shaler, Sylvan (Leslie) Easler Jr. of Butler and Shari (David) Ashton of Hampton Township; the son of the late Albert and Gertrude Hufnagel Easler; the brother of Rita Mae Kunz (late Francis) of Bradfordwoods, Lavern Easler (Dolores) of Butler and the late Garnetta Perkins (late James); the grandfather of Sylvan Benjamin Easler, Angela (Ross) Howat, Rebecca Jackson, Jonathan Jackson, Aaron Easler and Adam Ashton; and the great-grandfather of Cameron Ross Howat III.
Mr. Easler was retired from UParc and its predecessors Gulf and Chevron Research. He also worked for Alternative Power Sources in Gibsonia. Red was a mechanic on the Gulf R&D race teams of the 1960s. He was a NASCAR technical adviser from 1965 to 1969 and crew chief for Easler Motorsports from 1995 to 2012.
He was the former president of Bauerstown Baseball Association from 1967 to 1971, and the Shaler Wrestling Association from 1972 to 1975.
