Burkhart

Sandra L. Burkhart, 65, of Butler passed away Sunday at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 1, 1948, in Butler, the daughter of the late Russell Reese and Emily Brooke Thiel.

Sandy had just retired after 20 years of service from the dietary department of Concordia Lutheran Services. She had been a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church in Fenelton. Sandy enjoyed bingo, baking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her two daughters, Michelle Burkart (Jim McLaughlin) and Terri (Bruce) Locke, all of Butler; her son, Charlie (Lisa) Burkhart of Saxonburg; her five grandchildren, CJ Burkhart Jr., Justin Cook, Sarah Burkhart, Jonathan Cook and Lyndsy Burkhart; four sisters; and three brothers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Burkhart, who she married April 28, 1973, and who died March 7, 2009.

Burkhart — The friends of Sandra L. Burkhart, who passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment in Crown Hill Cemetery.
