Eila Mae Kline

Eila Mae Kline, 90, of Emlenton passed away Thursday at Brookville Hospital.

Eila was born to Guy Harley and Elizabeth Lavina “Lizzie” Shoup Kline on Christmas Day 1922.

She called Emlenton home her entire life, having lived as a young girl on Hill Street then making her home on College Avenue for nearly 60 years before moving to Bridgeview Apartments of Emlenton in 2008.

Eila was a 1940 graduate of Emlenton High School.

She was an avid reader and historian who was very knowledgeable of the history and families of the Emlenton area. Eila enjoyed the family home, mowing the lawn, gardening, bird watching and, of course, the Pittsburgh Steelers. She greatly anticipated the “Emlenton Hill Road Construction” project and had hoped to live to see it completed.

Eila was a member of the Emlenton United Methodist Church and had been a past member of the Emlenton Civic Club and the Over 55 Club.

Eila worked first at the Justrite Store in Emlenton, then Sloan's Drug Store. She was most proud of her career in the banking business, having worked for First National Bank in Emlenton through five name changes for the bank. She retired from Mellon Bank in Emlenton.

For most of the past five years, Eila lived in Bridgeview, where she enjoyed the company and friendship of her neighbors. They always looked out for her and were there to lend a hand when needed. For health reasons, she had moved to Laurelbrooke Landing at the McKinley Health Center in March of this year. There, she received outstanding attention and care.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Eila was preceded in death by her siblings, Harry F. Kline, John N. Kline and Carrie E. Kline Sloan.
