Kevin J. Slater

Kevin J. Slater, 52, of Adams Township, formerly of New Kensington, died Friday morning at his home after an illness.

Born in New Kensington on Jan. 14, 1961, he was the son of Mary Kathleen Mittereder Slater and the late Robert Gordon Slater.

He was a software engineer for S.D.G. Systems, before resigning because of his illness.

Kevin was a member of the Northway Christian Community Church in Wexford, and was on the board of directors at the Portersville Christian School. He also worked on the crew building sets for the fine arts at the Portersville Christian School.

He was an avid wind surfer at Moraine State Park and enjoyed model airplanes.

Surviving are his wife, Anita Turano Slater, who he married Nov. 23, 1985; his mother, Mary Kathleen Mittereder Slater of New Kensington; two daughters, Sarah Slater, a junior at Houghton College, Houghton, N.Y., and Michelle Slater, a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh; two sons, Jay Slater at home and Alexander Slater, a sophomore at Portersville Christian School; four sisters, Maureen (Harold) Bausemer of Braintree, Mass., Mary Slater of Cape Cod, Mass., Kathleen (Gerard) Hall of New Kensington and Patricia (Mark) McCloud of Adams Township; five brothers, Robert (Rosemarie) Slater of Atlanta, Ga., Michael (Deng) Slater of Thailand, Dennis (Linda) Slater of New Kensington, Martin (Ann) Slater of Minneapolis, Minn., and John (Cindy) Slater of Charlotte, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

SLATER — Visitation for Kevin J.
